What to Bring
Please provide a FULL change of clothes including shirt, pants, underwear and socks. You just never know what
might be needed, or when... or WHY! These can be kept here in their cubbie or taken home each day in their backpack, but it
is imperative that they have a full change available at all times while here, no matter the age or stage of the child.
Please bring a crib-size sheet, blanket and small pillow for your child's comfort at naptime. If they have a
special "snuggle" item, they may bring it with the understanding it is for naps only and will be kept in their cubbie the
rest of the day.
A backpack is always a good idea for making sure their papers get home in one piece! We will be doing art projects,
practicing handwriting, etc. and it's easier to protect their treasures if they have something special to put them in.
The children are encouraged to wear slippers or stockings in the daycare. But, we will be going outside to play
each day the weather is suitable, so please have them come and go in regular shoes, boots, or sandals which they can get on
and off independently. They are welcome to keep their slippers here in their cubbie if you would like.
They will also require a coat or sweater on some days and possibly swimsuits on other days so please dress them
appropriately for the weather and the activities. Remember, WE DO GO OUTSIDE every day, so if it is snowy, please send boots,
mittens, caps, etc. so they can join us outdoors for fresh air and exercise.
"Show & Tell" items are to be brought ONLY on the day assigned for that activity and all things must be
kept in their cubbie until Show & Tell time. Everything must be able to fit in a small lunch-sack paper bag that has your
child's name clearly marked on it. *
Parents ARE responsible to bring formula, diapers, baby food, baby wipes, pacifiers, etc. for all infants under
the age of 1 year. Once they graduate to finger food and regular milk, we will be happy to feed them the same meals the older
children are served. Diapers are ALWAYS the responsibility of the parents to provide.
What NOT to Bring!
NO FOOD, CANDY, GUM, TOYS, MONEY, OR ANYTHING OF VALUE should be brought to daycare. Period. (* Exception: Show
& Tell ONLY)
Do not bring in sippee cups, Happy Meals, unfinished breakfast or lunch, and especially, NO CANDY. We have plenty
of wonderful food and they will be fed about every 3 hours so, unless you plan on providing enough for everyone to enjoy,
please leave it at home or in the car.
Guns or any other kind of weapon (real OR pretend) will be strictly prohibited.
General Policies
Tuition payments are due weekly -- or in advance. Be sure I know what to expect!
While Beehive Preschool and Daycare is considered non-denominational and non-religious, we will offer Thanks
before each snack and meal and you will be asked to sign a Permission Slip for them to participate in prayers with us. Holidays
such as Easter, Pioneer Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas will make mention of God as we discuss their origins and traditions.
Mostly, values such as honesty, integrity, sharing, gratitude, responsibility, cooperation, compassion, etc. will be emphasized.
The children will be taught good hygiene and will be required to wash their hands and faces frequently. They
will also brush their teeth after breakfast and lunch. Toothpaste will be provided along with a toothbrush with a CAP that
your child can keep here.
Patriotism and love of country will be encouraged. The Pledge of Allegiance will be recited daily and holidays
such as Independence Day, President's Day, Flag Day, Pioneer Day, etc. will be observed and discussed.
We will go on Field Trips an average of about once a month. Parents are welcome to join us but transportation
and admission costs will be solely your responsibility for yourself or any siblings, etc. Permission slips will be required
for any child being transported. CAR SEATS WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PARENTS TO PROVIDE.
Birthdays will be celebrated at daycare and you are more than welcome to provide a cake or other treat for your
child and their friends to enjoy, but remember, all edible items must be commercially prepared according to state regulations.
Our door is always open! You are welcome any time to drop in or call to check on your child or to inquire as
to how they are adjusting or progressing. It might be a good idea not to interrupt our class time since I will be focused
exclusively on the children then and I want to give them my full and undivided attention, but I am always happy to chat with
you for a moment when you drop off or pick up your child. You are certainly welcome to schedule a time we can talk in more
depth if necessary and you are welcome to phone any time.
It is a state requirement that you physically walk your child in and out of the daycare and sign them in/out
on a daily basis.
We encourage you to take an active interest in what your child does here each day. We are not "just babysitters"
but teachers and your child will be busy learning. Please check their papers daily and reinforce our efforts.
Please leave your cell phones in the car when you drop off and pick up your child(ren) and give them a moment
of YOUR undivided attention so they can share their day with you. (This is one of my biggest "pet peeves"!) To the best of
your ability, reinforce concepts we are talking about at home. Read the website, the calendar, the menu, etc. and Keep Informed!
TAKE TIME FOR YOUR CHILD!
Let us know if your child is sick, out of town, staying with the other parent, etc. so we understand the reason
if they are absent. Your tuition payments are not for days actually attended but for days reserved for your child
to attend. Thus, fees will not be adjusted for missed days unless previously negotiated and put in writing. I will credit
5 vacations days and 5 sick days annually, if advance written notice is provided. I will also be happy to credit half off
in emergency situations such as funerals of immediate family members, etc. once documented. Holidays will be considered “paid”
and no discount given.
Tuition payments are due and payable every Monday unless otherwise contracted. A $10 per week late charge will
be assessed on Wednesday for any unpaid tuition. A child will not be accepted for care if tuition is more than 2 weeks late
OR a deposit equivalent to two weeks will be required.
Don't send children in good clothes. Learning is "hands on" and sometimes (usually!) can
be very messy! Paint smocks, etc. will be provided, but still, accidents do happen... Also, I prefer that little girls come
in pants rather than dresses. They spend a lot of time "upside down" and modesty is important, both in the classroom and on
the playground.
When asked to provide proof of income for food program eligibility, and/or proof of immunizations, etc. please
do so in a timely manner. These are mandatory for licensing and any child who does not have them in their file for a licensing
inspection will be subject to termination.
Communicable Diseases
If your child shows any signs of illness, i.e. runny nose, coughing, sore throat, fever, diarrhea, vomiting,
pink eye, etc. PLEASE KEEP THEM HOME. We are not in a position to isolate a sick child and we do not want to expose the other
children to any more germs than necessary. If a child does come down with a communicable disease while at daycare, we will
isolate them as best as possible and contact parents or emergency contacts to come and pick up the child as soon as possible.
In such cases, all parents will be notified that their child has been exposed and symptoms to watch for.
Our policy on Tobacco, Alcohol, Drugs, Pornography
1) Tobacco is not allowed anywhere on our property at any time! If anyone is discovered smoking, they will be
asked to put it out immediately or leave the premises.
2) Alcohol is not allowed to be consumed or even brought on to the property at any time under any circumstances.
If a parent arrives to pick up a child and so much as APPEARS to be intoxicated, the child will not be released to that parent.
Someone from their emergency contact list will be asked to pick up the child and the incident will be reported to the Department
of Family Services.
3) Because we are always on-site supervising the care and nurturing of each child, be it known hereby that absolutely
NO illegal substances will be consumed, smoked, snorted, inhaled, injected, etc. in any manner on our property or anywhere
that might be observed by a child, parent, etc. in our care. If such should occur, the police will be notified immediately
and charges will be filed. As above with reference to alcohol, no child will be released to a parent who appears high or otherwise
impaired.
4) No medications of any kind (prescribed or illegal) will be ingested by either children, parents, or caregivers
in amounts known to compromise responsible judgment while children are in care.
5) As a family, we do not indulge in the viewing of pornography or any other sexually explicit materials, and
we will not tolerate them being brought on to our property at any time for any reason. This includes magazines, videos, internet,
or any other kind of medium. Anyone found to be in violation of this policy will be immediately referred to police.
EMERGENCY POLICIES & PROCEDURES FOR FIRE, EARTHQUAKE, AND EVACUATION ARE POSTED ON THE PARENT
INFORMATION BOARD. PLEASE CHECK THERE FOR DETAILS.
